Location with Largemouth bass, Smallmouth bass
The past two weekends have been a blast! I fished with my partner Marc to wrap up our season for the Northern New York Bassmasters team trail. The first day we fished Black Lake which can be very hit and miss but we put together a pattern that produced some good fish! We threw spinner baits and crank baits around rock shoals and rip wrap. We put 15.96lbs in the boat to take 3rd place! Day 2 was on the St Lawrence River where the day started out with a bang! We found a good school of fish early off a current break on the back side of an island. We were drop shotting in 10-15 ft early in the day. Our first 3 fish were all almost 4lbs each. Then it happens! I hook a 5+ and she jumps and shakes the hook. 2 casts later I hook a bigger fish and it shakes off again. Later in the day we decide to hit my goto spot for a 6 pounder and sure enough my partner Marc puts one in the boat that was 5.77lbs which landed us 8th place for 2 days with 32.5lbs. Next tournament I fished was with my old partner from last season Mike Bell in memory of one of our long time club members Chuck Roach on Black Lake once again. Let me just say it was a Wopper Plopper kind of day! Mike put the first 3 fish in the boat by 730am. I put the forth in the boat which was our biggest at the time on a spinner bait. We went back and forth catching fish then Mike hits a big one on a senko which culled one of our small fish. We put 15.77lbs in the boat and took 5th place! It was a great experience and glad I was able to fish with 2 great guys and share the experience with both of them!
