Location with Smallmouth bass

Fished a two day dash for cash style event on the St. Lawrence. On day one we managed a 5.12 lber which was the 4th largest fish weighed in for the day. The fish and the majority of the fish that day were caught deep 25-40 ft dropshotting a Gajo baits spirit shad 4 inch. Custom color with a 1/2 swagger tungsten dropshot weight and a gamakatsu splitshot/dropshot hook. The day started off really cold with the temps in the mid 20s to kick off the morning. Day 2 was about 10 degrees warmer in the 40s and we decided to bail on the hourlys and just make a big run looking for one big fish to win the two day total weight for $5000. In the end we caught a ton of fish but a 4 lber was the biggest we could pull off. On day two I tried a little bit of everything from dropshotting to shallow water jerkbaits and spinnerbaits. It wasnt enough for the two day total but we finished with a decent showing.
